👋🏼 Hello, reader.
This weekend I drew some boats at the first Urban Sketchers Vancouver meetup of the year.
The image of boats in the water always brings to my mind the ending of “The Postmaster” by Rabindranath Tagore, a short story we read in middle school. Here is how it ends.
In the custom of urban-sketchers meetups, we congregated, then dispersed to make our drawings, and then re-congregated to share what we had seen. It was a lovely time and I enjoyed meeting some new people!
Do you see the singular person in the scene? I try to include at least one person in all of my sketches!
What a story, Nishant! I remember reading Rabindranath Tagore when I was in college, but nothing quite like that. I love the little drawings that capture that feeling of isolation. And of course, great sketch of the boats with that delightful tangle of lines nicely composed on the page!
I loved that story. I'd never read it before, thank you so much for sharing. I spotted the figure in your wonderful drawing!
