It's just the best to have someone or something upend all the pessimism you didn't realize was settling on your head like so much dust. The b.e.s.t.

So true, Jenny! I am now fully vested in this world, and there is no room for cynicism or nihilistic despondence in my mind.

Hello, I love your drawings of the bridge and find the watercolor one particularly beautiful, and it become very different of your usual designs ;) I finally bought your book, found it from a UK online seller; I must now climb in it in english, not allways easy , so I will go by little pieces one by one !

I do receive your posts for your next course, but really not able now for it, though I'm trying to return to draw with others ways (and some like SDB you know ;) and yes, I remember how everything is new and incredible with a small guy who discovers all the world, it's a very kind and precious period to appreciate ;) (mine is now 28, and things are so,so much different...) enjoy your days !

Ooh, I use acrylic gouache primarily for my paintings. How do you find using them?

Nishant Jain's avatar

I'm really enjoying it more than I expected to!

Try it less diluted. Also, layering!

Your line drawing of the ferry and bridge is absolutely exquisite.

Also I love the way small children remind us the joy of discovering each day as if it’s a brand new world 🩵 my own kiddos have equally challenged me to drop my jadedness and lean back into that simple awe!

do you use different width pens? i like how you created the boat on the bottom of the page

Nishant Jain's avatar

Yes! Line widths are a very important thing for me. In that drawing, you see three lines - the medium fountain pen nib, the reverse side of the same nib (that produces a thinner line), and a thick fineliner to border my foreground elements.

Thank you so much. it’s a beautiful style.

Glad to help. I do things this way because I carry very few tools when I am out sketching. It keeps me quick and sneaky. :)
