👋 Hello, readers.
(and welcome, new readers!)
I wrote last week about flying back from India to Vancouver. Our flight was due to take-off at 5:30am, so we spent a few hours of the late night/early morning period at New Delhi airport. Needing a way to occupy myself, I took out my sketchbook and started to look around. I was lucky that, even at such ungodly hours, airports can be full of life.
✈ TinyPeople of New Delhi Airport
Tiny people have a lot to say. These portraits, distilled out of so much reality, nonetheless possess a distinct personhood. They have personality, pose, character, fashion, and hair-styles.
This means that while you may never have seen them, it is still possible you recognize them…
Maybe they resemble someone in your world - someone you’ve seen on your streets or in your cafes. Someone you have not paid much attention to, someone that was just a side-character on the edges of your vision.
Tiny people populate your world, and add to its richness and depth.
Here is something to consider. You also populate their world. In their world, you occupy a place not unlike the one they occupy in yours - nearly out of sight, and nearly out of mind...

I later shared this drawing on Reddit, where it promptly went viral. Take a look!

🎺 The Podcast Returns!
After a two-month hiatus, the SneakyArt Podcast returns this Friday. SneakyArt Insiders were given early access to the new episode earlier this week, as part of the privileges I offer in exchange for reader patronage.
This episode is a new format I’m working on, and I am beyond excited to share it with all of you soon. I was a little nervous while recording it, but this is a feeling that I have come to interpret as a good thing. This year is going to be all about overcoming nerves to push against the boundaries of my comfort zone.
A sneak-peek into the new episode below!

🙌 Dear new reader
I’m glad to have you here. This newsletter is a way to articulate ideas around my art. Every week it pushes me to be honest, sincere, and vulnerable. It’s not easy, but the pursuit of beauty and excellence demands nothing less.
I am glad to have you with on this journey with me. I am sure that you are on your own journey as well. For a while, then, we are traveling together.
Here are a couple of resources to introduce you to me and my work:

[LISTEN] My extended conversation with Amit Varma on ‘The Seen and the Unseen’ Podcast (one of my favorite podcasts!)
I am cognizant of the great privilege it is to have a space in someone’s inbox. Thank you for your time and attention.
Those Reddit numbers are incredible! Congratulations.
I discovered you through Amit Varma's podcast, wonderful 5 hours of pure joy: words or a voice which I realised I have been waiting to hear since my childhood. I'm 35 now, will it matter now or will it help me? Yes, it will, in my own personal ways. Thank you.
