Dear Insider,
(and all the free readers receiving this mail)
Wherever strangers cross paths, worlds collide. SneakyArt is created at this intersection of worlds. Do you see? If you look carefully, you will see sparks flying, colours rising, and the tingling particles of spontaneous beauty.
Last week, I spoke about our need to look for the beautiful things of our world. Today, I want to get the ball rolling with an assignment for you. Four simple steps. I think it will be fun.
The SneakyArt (Insider) Post is written for paid subscribers and patrons of this newsletter.
Step One
Select the nearest place where strangers congregate in your world. It could be the bus-stop, or cafe, or even just a traffic light.
Step Two
Look for the sneaky art. It could take many forms. It could be a person that catches your eye. It could be the dynamic between friends. It could be a conversation, or a handbag, or a pair of shoes. It could be a feeling you cannot pinpoint, something suffusing the air itself.
You may find it immediately. It may take a little time. Be patient and watch carefully. Sometimes it hides in plain sight.
Step Three
Capture the sneaky art before it is gone. Make a quick sketch. Or take a picture. Or note down your observations in words. Maybe a haiku?
Be there, in the moment, as you do this. Acting on instinct is more important than accuracy. Don’t leave it for later.
Step Four
Share what you find in the Insider Chat:
Free readers, the subscriber chat is a private space for SneakyArt Insiders. I am building a space that is safe and welcoming, kind and encouraging. To succeed, it needs the commitment that paid subscribers bring to my work. I would love for you to join me.
I want to tell you that we are not alone in our dejections, frustrations, or anxieties. As the days grow shorter, we are not alone in the early darkness. We are not alone in the slow dawn. I need you to know that we are not alone even in our loneliness. We have much in common, all the trials and tribulations of this shared human existence.
The goal of this assignment is not only to find beauty, but to help you identify commonalities. To find beauty through commonality, commonality through beauty.
In the vast nothingness of space, we are together on this small planet, intermingling, juxtaposing, colliding, intersecting. If this isn’t nice, what is?
I look forward to seeing what you find!
