Dear Insider,
(and free readers getting a peek!)
In less than a month, I am flying to Amsterdam. It has been almost 5 years since I was last there. Back then, I was just starting to flex my sketching muscles. Every day was a new adventure, doing another thing I had never done before.
Like this.
I lived in the Netherlands from 2010-15 as a student and researcher at TU Delft. I left to make a new life as a writer, then a cartoonist, then an artist, and now … sigh … here I am trying to do everything everywhere all at once.
Glad to have you with me.
I am eager to spend some time in the Netherlands as an artist. But there are also other parts of Europe I want to see. Some are places I have never gone to before. Others are places I have not visited since I accidentally became an artist.
I have loved many more cities than I have sketched.
The plan is to rectify this situation.
In today’s Insider Post, travel plans, opportunities to meet up, seats in the upcoming Zoom workshop, and a thank you to the readers who recently became Insiders.
In times of Netflix, HBO, and Disney, every Insider is a special person that decided to also support independent art. You are amazing! 🙏🏼
👋🏼 Hello, Davely!
This week, I made a new member via BuyMeACoffee and they left me this message.
It is gratifying to know that the podcast has been a close part of someone’s art journey. It is the kind of real difference I had hoped to make in the world, when I first decided to pursue creative curiosities. Every connection with every single listener is a gift that I treasure. I am honoured that they considered it worthy of support.
🚞 Travel plans
Mid-August onwards, I will be in the Netherlands for a couple of weeks, spending time in Amsterdam and Delft, among other places. After that, travel plans include Belgium, Paris, Zurich, and Rome over the next couple of weeks. Preferably by train all the way. I may also be in Copenhagen.
Insiders, would you like to meet? I will be travelling solo for most of the journey. Would anyone like to host me in their city for a night?
The plan is to do walking tours, sketch as much as possible, leave art for people to find, and record on-location material in both audio and video.
I would love to have company. Get in touch!
