Dear Insider,

Last week, I promised to share the opening pitch of the book I want to make this year. But this post is not about that. I apologize.

In my defence, it has been an insane week:

  • My Instagram crossed 200k followers.

  • The shop is getting a lot of love - new print orders, book orders, and various commission requests.

  • I did not anticipate the overwhelming response to my Zoom workshop.

Today, I want to share this love and attention I have received, all the notes from the “How to Draw Tiny People” workshop, and my travel plans.

🛫 Travel Plans

Tonight, I fly to India. The first stop is home in Kolkata. Over the next four weeks, I will make my way to New Delhi, Jaipur (for a family wedding), and Mumbai, before flying back to Vancouver.

On the schedule are many happy reunions with extended family and old friends. I also hope to meet several new friends and colleagues whom I have never seen in real life. I remember when this was an oddity. Today it is the norm - our networks are far-flung, and our ties are stretched thin. As often as possible, we must renew these bonds we share with other people.

Also, there will be a lot of sketching. I am going to draw many tiny people of India. Stay tuned!

At home, almost exactly one year ago.

📲 Instagram Blow-up and Ensuing Attention

I do not have a way to reckon with these numbers. For so many years, I have felt stifled by the Algorithms, that I was not getting the attention I deserved for the work I was doing. Now it feels like the gates have been opened. And I am not sure how to deal with it -

0 to 20k - 5 years 🥲

20k to 100k - 5 weeks 😱

100k to 200k - 10 days 🤯

Some observations:
