I love what you said about the humsafar. I’ve never heard the term but it’s a great way to view things. It’s a perspective that can set someone free. Focus on your journey and the pleasure of it will never fail.
You’re doing top tier work on your Substack. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you, Chevanne! Humsafar is an Urdu word, of possibly Persian origin. It is used in the context of life partner very often, with the idea that the "safar" (journey) is life itself.
There are hours of the day I dedicate to writing, which is how I manage to write consistently. Same with exercise. For me, I have to prioritize it by clearing my schedule.
This is excellent, Geoffrey. While I have hours dedicated to exercise, they have come from the understanding that I simply will not do it later in the day. As for writing and art, they need dedicated hours instead of being spread out throughout my day irregularly. I manage myself well at the week level, but not the day! Have you read what Cal Newport has to say about slow productivity?
Hi Nishant, I would love for you to interview Sarah Nisbett. (Her book is called "Drawn On the Way"). You both inspire me so much in my drawing. I think it would be a great conversation.
Nishant, I love spending time here. I just posted today, and your #1 is right on. for a year, I posted on Fridays consistently. then I started slacking a bit under the guise of "self-freedom"
I stopped that when I had to post a late Sunday night out of thin air. That post sucked. BAD
vulnerability is paramount. I have learned to let a post ripen -
and the action is at the core - I stopped using the word "trying" to define anything I am doing. If you're just tying it, you are not doing it. if one is saying "i'm planning to try something soon"
Loved this, Nishant! Kudos on your consistency. I've really enjoyed your work although I don't comment often enough! I stopped writing weekly for a few months to give myself time to think about this. I'm now back as of Sunday. My focus will be on one book in translation every week. I want to read one work a week and I want to share what I find. My debut on the topic is at https://bit.ly/3uHmEmS

Thanks! I’m glad it resonated. I haven’t, but I’ve got the tab open now. I’m a “slow” reader! 😁

Lisa, episode 12 is with Sarah! We had a great time, because we share so much in common! 🤗

that means it never will happen.
thanks - proud to know you
