Thank you Jessie 😊 To draw with a pen is to be very clear and definite about what you show, and I am learning to step back from the brink, just one step before I think I should, to leave a little unsaid, to leave some things undefined.
Clarity and decision are very helpful in editing. My grandmother, an artist and teacher, would talk about the negative space. How important that room is for highlighting an image (or idea). Letting us focus.
Absolutely yes! I think often about this. My favorite musicians are masters of not only their notes but their silences too. In a page of lines, negative space frames and gives context to busy spaces. I also think about information - how much to give, how much to conceal, and how to make the journey "musical".
Using the edge of the windshield in the car as a frame is inspired. The result is compelling.
This was the subject of a recent workshop as well, Joseph. I'm glad you liked it. Everywhere I go, I look for such "natural frames" to see through.
Absolutely. Sometimes the world is just to broad and full that you need a frame to focus your attention.
💯
Your artwork is always such a delight to look at. Thank you, Nishant.
I am glad to have readers such as you who appreciate it, Vicki. 🙏
I adored this post and the lightness in your drawings!

I love your paintings, and also the drawing of what looked like an inlet with trees on the left. Really sensitive work.
Thank you Antonia, our rooms were beside the inlet, and we had the chance to observe the tides, and what they left behind, on our morning hike.
I love that you used ink to sketch - great format.
Thank You Tree! Ink is my preferred medium, and it's the pencils and colors that make me nervous. 😅 I love the finality of the line.
