I really like how the newsletter is evolving. It is interesting to ses how you use similar techniques between "sneaky" drawings and "parent" drawings. And it is interesting to know what inspires you or to see longer format work. Just keep doing you 😊
Patrick Lane is my favourite poet. I love the way he chose beautiful words to describe repulsive and repugnant things. It’s hard to find his work online but the book “beware the months of fire” was my first introduction to him. The poem “the Dog” was a sucker punch on a cold February morning in a college library. It made me sit up and take notice. A perfect antidote to feeling mentally and emotionally numb.
I have to ask you about the pen in the little video... it looks like a regular Chinese or Japanese brush, but the ink seems to go on forever. Does it have a sneaky cartridge?
Because Ronan is an integral part of your art life, I think he definitely belongs here and having him here let’s me observe more closely how your work evolves - I love the way you share so openly!
In the video, I am using a Sailor dip pen. But in the drawing of Rohan, I used a Chinese art brush purchased from Singapore. I don't see a brand label in English, and my local friend told me most Chinese brushes aren't high-end so you can use any brand.
I like a mixed bag newsletter!
As for poems I love Mary Oliver.
And John O’Donohue.
Oh! Miranda! I was about to say the same two. :) Here's a hug for you!

I would love to live
Like a river flows,
Carried by the surprise
Of it's own unfolding.
(John O'Donohue)
And Nishant, feel free to let Rohan's drawings right here. We love them. ;)
That is a wonderful poem, Carla, thank you for sharing! ☺️

Sneaky drawings and parent drawings are sooo similar these days, I'm thinking about it all the time! ❤️
I love the poem When Tomorrow Starts Without Me by Trey Pendley

That is a good way to describe the role of a poet, Tina. A good poem should always awaken us from numbness.
Ok. Mary Oliver. Marianne Moore. T. S. Eliot. A. A. Milne. And your drawings are poetry.
Thank you Jean! 🥰

No cartridge, the ink does indeed seem to go on forever and I can't explain it! 😅
I'd think there may be a day when he has an opinion on the use of his picture...some parenting adventures will kick in...
I wonder!

Glad to hear that, Nancy! I feel like this year will be big in terms of artistic evolution, and I'm excited to share the journey. :)
Even though I do not always have time to respond, I love the posts.
Aww so glad to hear that, Christina! I love having you as a reader!
what is the ink brush you are using?

I love Ronan here!
