👋🏼 Hello, reader!
Today was Day 27 of 30 Days of Vancouver. I walked up and down Granville St in downtown Vancouver, watching tiny people play out their lives. They were playing hard at being busy and did not notice me standing there. But it is also likely that I did not stand out very much, because this stretch of downtown has more than its share of eccentric people.
30 Days of Vancouver is my daily drawing project to find and draw TinyPeople all over this city.
If you like receiving this newsletter, tell your friends about it. Bring it up at parties. Be oddly persistent. Make things weird. Live life on the edge.
These were my favourite TinyPeople today:
Talking to Herself. She walked past me and waited at the intersection, muttering under her breath all the while. Bemused pedestrians shook their heads. But she hunched her shoulders and waited for the light to turn green.
I wondered if she was unwell, but I think she just got too used to wearing a mask over her mouth.
I like masks for this reason too. It’s the only way to have a proper conversation with myself in public places.
(Top row, middle) She arched an eyebrow as her boyfriend kept on walking. Ten feet ahead, he realized she was not with him any longer, turned around, and shrugged his shoulders. She nodded towards the boutique store. He sighed. They went in.
Now, your turn. Pick a character above and tell a tiny story about them in the comments.
The top stories this week will win an exciting prize (below)!
✂️ A Tiny Zine!
Intrepid readers will recall that last week’s giveaway was zines. I finally got around to making the first batch - SneakyArt of April (Vol 1).
I even had a tiny stapler for the job!
This limited print run is of only 5 copies - each one numbered and signed. Two have been claimed already by winners of the previous giveaway competition - Anne Kay and Lisa.
🎁 That leaves THREE copies up for grabs! To win, all you have to do is tell a tiny story using any of the TinyPeople above.
Thank you, dear reader, for adding SneakyArt to your inbox. I appreciate the time and attention you give me every week.
The woman picking flowers just recently learned her elderly neighbor’s husband left her for a much younger woman. She wanted to cheer her up so she picked a small bouquet and was going to drop it off on the neighbor’s porch in the evening. She doesn’t know her neighbor well but she’s hoping the small gesture is the beginning of a new friendship.
Woman reading, waiting for bus.
Her friend, an avid reader, gave her the book saying "ya gotta read this, you just gotta" so the bus waiting woman cautiously agreed (she liked her own choices best) but moved to the top of her books-to-read pile and started on it that day. With surprise, and some relief, she loves the book! She looks forward to seeing her friend to discuss.
