The woman picking flowers just recently learned her elderly neighbor’s husband left her for a much younger woman. She wanted to cheer her up so she picked a small bouquet and was going to drop it off on the neighbor’s porch in the evening. She doesn’t know her neighbor well but she’s hoping the small gesture is the beginning of a new friendship.
Her friend, an avid reader, gave her the book saying "ya gotta read this, you just gotta" so the bus waiting woman cautiously agreed (she liked her own choices best) but moved to the top of her books-to-read pile and started on it that day. With surprise, and some relief, she loves the book! She looks forward to seeing her friend to discuss.
The girl with sunglasses is my daughter. Fresh out of college. Brimming outwardly with confidence. Sharp looking and smart in every way. Every detail. But inside she has no direction. She’s searching. She doesn’t believe the world will accept who she is deep down. She’s afraid to fail so she can’t commit to herself. I want to help her. Support her. But I need to let her find her own path. So now she walks in her sunglasses.
The first woman is sitting with her travel mug with green tea. She's going through a very rough patch in life, but right at this moment she's thinking about what she read earlier about how some people can actually smell ants!
Mother and teenage daughter out running some errands before she leaves for a 3 month internship abroad. Mom is hoping to have some quality time and connect but looks like the only thing her daughter is connected to is the internet :(
The woman picking flowers just moved into an apartment. She’s a single mother, and her adult daughter just bought her first home with her wife. The woman misses having her garden of carefully pruned blossoms, but her arthritis, aging muscles, and osteoporosis have rendered it impossible for her to care for her tiny bungalow and its sprawling lawn and garden. The wildflowers remind her of the joy of tending her garden and nurturing her growing daughter, all by herself. The woman’s strength is not unlike the roots that resist her pull.
The woman talking to herself has had a premonition that one day - and she is very much hoping it will be soon - she will find herself transported to a better place. Once there - and she will know it immediately when she sees it - there will be others like her all around who have also been transported. They will find themselves in a big crowd - and soothed by the others around them who are feeling the same sense of having arrived, and with the beginning glimmer of a sense that they will now be safe - as they make their way to the edge of the sea and to the barge that beckons them, they will slowly begin to look around - at each other and begin to smile. As this happens, Marge - this is her name - will feel an inner shift. Her need to keep talking will settle and in its place, she will start to feel a little bit of inner peace. Here she is only a few days later - as her premonition becomes are reality. ( Please go now to the April 30 drawing and look on the right side page, two rows up from the bottom and you will find Marge with her hoodie jacket, right next to the word “seawall”. She is walking towards the barge. The beautiful mysterious healing power of the place is taking hold of her. She has arrived.

What a lovely sentiment.❤️
Woman reading, waiting for bus.

It's so much pressure sometimes when books come with a strong recommendation! I hate to say I didn't like it. 🫣

Can confirm sunglasses are a great tool to imbibe self-confidence!

People can ... smell ... ants?
Haha exactly my reaction! Apparently some people can! Do look it up...
Bottom right

It often is this way. 🥲

Such a wonderful story, Michelle. 👏🏽 I love the last line.
Thank you, Nishant!

Wow Cathy what a story! I LOVE that you found her again on a later page!🙌🏽
I see many such people in the business district downtown. Some fresh air, sun, and precious solitude.
