👋🏼 Hello, reader.
I am close to the end of week one of my drawing challenge.
30 Days of Vancouver is a daily drawing challenge to explore and better understand the city as an immigrant and artist.
Today, the drawing of Day 6 + some advice to another artist + a radio interview.

💬 Advice to another artist
Whenever I post my work on Reddit, I am asked about my style. A lot of the questions are similar, especially when they come from other artists who are perhaps struggling to arrive at their own distinct style.
I understand that. That used to be me too. I was convinced it was too late for me to ever have my own style, because I was so sure it was something you needed to be born with.
Here’s what I said in a recent instance:
Do you think that was helpful? What are your thoughts?
🗓 Day 6
I didn’t have a plan for this day. I went out the door hoping something would occur to me and — after climbing up to the Bloedel Conservatory at the top of QE Park — something did.
It was this view. But not only the beautiful horizon. It was also the benches and the trees. It was also the people ambling under the sun, taking pictures, pointing out the different peaks to their family members.
How many TinyPeople do you see? Do you have a favourite one?

🎙 Interview on Radio National (Australia)
This week I spoke with Natasha Mitchell on the Science Friction podcast, part of ABC Radio National in Australia. It’s a short, fun conversation about how I decided to leave engineering and academia, and my decision to be a full-time creative.
Give it a listen and tell me what you think! 😊
In the next issue (this Friday), I share part 2 of my extended conversation with Sandi Hester on the SneakyArt Podcast. I will also announce the winners of the first (of 4) giveaway for SneakyArt Insiders. Giveaways this week include one original drawing and two signed prints.
If you’re interested in participating in this week’s giveaway (2 days to go) and enjoying other Insider benefits, sign up to become a SneakyArt Insider!
Thank you for your time and attention.
